The Worst Days is a relationship-focused modern-setting horror TTRPG.

Horror games are rarely scary while you're sitting at a table (physical or virtual) with friends. The Worst Days makes TTRPGs scary by focusing on character development, relationships, and decisions that help you to care about your characters as if they were real people. And when you care...horror matters.

What Kind of Game is This?

The Worst Days makes you forget you're in a horror game by spending most of the adventure focused on the normal lives of normal young adults (18-25). From working at a mall in the 1990s, to frequenting an arcade in the early 80s, to heading down to the shore in the 1950s, characters will live their lives for several sessions before any hint of horror creeps into their worlds. And by then, it's too late for them. And for you.

The Worst Days leans toward the tragic-horror story, often with TPK's as a rule. Characters can fight the evil, but they won't win. They probably won't even get a hit in. The horror that confronts characters in The Worst Days is supernatural and overwhelming. The only option is to run, and even then...your odds aren't good.

Two Starter Adventures

With The Worst Days you get two full adventure outlines to help GMs get started.

In the main guide, explore the Gilbert Mansion as your characters volunteer for a study into ESP in "Subjects."

In March, build your team cohesion in "Startup!" a second adventure outline!

Free Content.

When you buy The Worst Days you get three months of Patreon content for free. Everyone who buys the game will get the "A Bite Out" Adventure content as it comes out (or all at once if you buy the game after May 31, 2024).

This Release

Written by J.W.G. Wise (Weeping Cedars, Samite, Wrought of Amber), and developed over three and a half years with extensive playtesting and revision, the .9 version of The Worst Days will be available on February 28, 2024 for people to purchase, play, and give feedback on for six months. The 1.0 version of the guide is planned for September 2024 incorporating player feedback.
